SkyTech Venus Review

SkyTech is a unique player in the pre-built gaming PC industry. Their rigs tend to have a very distinct design aesthetic and theme that is meant to appeal to a very specific target demographic. The [Limited Pink Edition] SkyTech Venus Desktop Gaming Computer is a true demonstration of this. Who said hardcore PC gaming is a man only affair? This gaming PC has the looks that can appeal to the ladies. From the pink ambient lighting, beautifully designed minimalistic case and the pink RGB fans. Looks aside, the SkyTech Venus Desktop is equipped with premium gaming components capable of handling modern AAA games at the highest settings smoothly. There’s a NVidia GeForce GTX1060 3GB Video Card, AMD RYZEN 3 1200 4-Core 3.1 GHz, and G. Skill 16GB DDR4 2400 Gaming Memory. If you love pink and love PC gaming, this desktop is a must buy.

Pros

  • Handsomely equipped
  • Beautiful case and ambient lighting
  • Fast SSD storage
  • Affordable
  • Great performance

Cons

  • Does not come with a high capacity HDD-can be installed later.

Verdict

This PC has all the power you need to enjoy your favorite PC games while giving you something extra in the aesthetics department. All the components installed are quite premium hence justifying the $999 price tag. A lot of gamers prefer to source individual components and build their own gaming PC but as most will agree, this is not a safe or feasible option for the non-technical gamers out there. Our advice is to go right ahead and get this baby if you want to jump right into gaming. It’s also a nice day to day desktop PC that you will be proud to have on your desk as it complements any setup.

DESIGN AND FEATURES

As mentioned in the introduction, this is a very unique gaming PC in terms of design. Its housed in a beautifully designed and compact case (white in color with pink accents). As is common with most gaming rigs, the SkyTech Venus Desktop is adorned with bright pink RGB lighting. A transparent tempered glass side panel keeps the beautifully lit interior in full view. Inside, construction and overall cable management is professionally done, we can barely see any wires as they are carefully routed towards the back of the case. This is an inverted case so the PSU compartment is at the top leaving acres of room at the bottom thus allowing easy air circulation while allowing SkyTech to achieve a very clean build.Measuring just 18.9 x 8.7 x 17.5 inches and weighing 32.5 pounds, this [Limited Pink Edition] SkyTech Venus Desktop kind of sits in the middle in terms of portability. You can easily transfer it from room to room and it doesn’t really occupy a lot of space on your desk.

The SkyTech Venus Desktop is equipped with Polaris RGB fans. They look good and spin quietly as well. The A320M Motherboard has a number of expansion slots including space for an extra 16GB of RAM, PCIe slots for additional cards and room for additional SSD storage.

This gaming PC has a hardware signed installation of Windows 10 Home that is devoid of bloatware.

Input devices

The SkyTech Venus comes with a free USB keyboard and mouse. They are not the most attractive gaming peripherals especially if you are a hardcore PC gamer, but luckily they don’t feel cheap neither do they underperform. If you decide to go with the keyboard, you will find it quite nice to game on as it has responsive keys and adequate key travel. The mouse has very accurate optical tracking and feels nice to the touch.

CONNECTIVITY

Ports

For your peripherals, this PC does come with a decent amount of USB ports and other interfaces. We get 8 USB ports, 2 of them being USB 2.0 and the other 6 are USB3.0 ports. We also get the usual 5.1 channel audio outputs for external surround sound and the headphone and microphone ports. For video output, we have the option of using any of the ports on the GTX 1060; either HDMI, DVI or the Display port depending on the gaming monitor you purchase alongside this computer. The DisplayPort is the best for tear-free HD gaming with a decent V-sync or G-sync monitor so keep this in mind when getting a monitor.

Wireless

We get both gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity on this PC.

PERFORMANCE

Judging from the performance components installed on the SkyTech Venus Desktop gaming computer, we can easily conclude that this PC is made for users who love playing mid-tier games. The Pascal based NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 dedicated graphics still remains the card of choice for mid-tier 1080p gaming. Its coupled with a fairly capable and budget-friendly AMD Ryzen 3 processor with a 3.1GHz base clock speed and 3.4GHz boost clock. The Ryzen 7 was released alongside other AMD flagship processors and GPU’s early 2017. It’s an intriguing CPU choice for this build as most desktops tend to come with cheaper Intel chips like the Intel i3-7350K. This one is also fully multiplier unlocked, therefore, providing some overclocking potential, unlike the Intel competitors. Other performance components include; G. Skill 16GB DDR4 2400 Gaming Memory-some of the best gaming modules out there today and an ultra-fast Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD.

There are two more configurations to this model differing in Internal storage in the graphics card. See the second configuration model here (with 8GB DDR4 RAM, 120GB SSD, and 1TB HDD) and the third configuration model here (with GTX 1050 Ti 4GB Video Card, 8GB DDR4 RAM and 1 TB HDD).

Our top three picks of the best games to play with the configuration on the SkyTech Venus Desktop Include Doom, Overwatch and GTA V. The three games play smoothly at over 80fps on very high settings. Less demanding RTS titles like StarCraft can be played at the highest settings at 1080p or 4K resolutions.

As many users have experienced before, more demanding titles like PUB-G, Ashes of singularity and Witcher can also be enjoyed on the SkyTech Venus Desktop provided you do not max out the game settings. 60fps is a decent refresh rate to enjoy practically any game out there and the SkyTech Venus Desktop delivers it for most games.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, we go back to the design of the SkyTech Venus Desktop Gaming Computer. This is a very cute PC that addresses the needs in its niche market beautifully. It has all the premium components a modern gaming PC should come with and has a competitive price tag on Amazon. The SkyTech Venus Desktop is a gem in this vast pre-built gaming PC industry. We should also mention that you get 1 Year Parts & Labor & Lifetime Tech Support when you purchase this baby on Amazon.
