SkyTech ArchAngel GTX 1050 Ti Review
Pc gaming still remains hugely popular despite the presence of dedicated gaming consoles like the Xbox and PlayStation. This is because of the amount of freedom you get with pc gaming as opposed to console gaming. There’s practically no limit to the number of upgrades you can introduce to your gaming rig. A gaming pc you buy today can serve you faithfully for the next 10 years or more while consoles have to be replaced more frequently. And of course theirs is the issue of community – getting into the wonderful world of pc gaming is like a rite of passage. Serious gamers still play pc games. PC gaming is a lot more than just entertainment. Getting a gaming pc involves either constructing one from scratch or buying a professionally built rig, ready to run from companies like CybertronPC and SkyTech. The former can be intimidating for non-technical pc gamers, while the latter is an easy and safer option since you get a warranty and support from the company you purchase from. As you read our SkyTech ArchAngel GTX 1050 Ti Review, I bet you’ll end up seeing why our bet is on this pre-built rig than on a DIY one.
SkyTech is well-known for their sleek and solidly built gaming desktops. Today we take a look at one of their cheaper entry-level gaming computers. DESIGN AND FEATURES
The SkyTech ArchAngel GTX 1050 Ti is quite similar to the CybertronPC Electrum QS-A6 that we reviewed recently. It is housed in a sleek white metallic case with an extruded v-shaped face whose lower half is backlit with bright customizable LED lighting. The overall design looks clean and simple, but maintains the general eye-catching gamer aesthetic. The LED lighting makes the SkyTech ArchAngel GTX 1050 Ti glow beautifully in the dark.
As with many modern gaming rigs, we also get a transparent side window on the SkyTech ArchAngel GTX 1050 Ti which gives us a glimpse at the interior. SkyTech builds every unit by hand so cable management on this one is so clinically done it’s almost impossible to see stray wires within its bowels. Airflow is truly maximized on this build. That’s all because the cables are carefully routed to the rear leaving acres of free space at the front. There’s only one exhaust fan at the back so having free airflow is key for the SkyTech ArchAngel GTX 1050 Ti (ST-ARCH-GTX1050TI-V1).
Gaining access to the interior involves removing a few screws. Inside you will find space for an extra RAM module and PCIe slots for future card upgrades. While 8 GB of RAM is sufficient for most applications, you also use the extra slot to boost performance (accommodates up to 32 GB). Keep in mind that the SkyTech ArchAngel GTX 1050 Ti comes with a 430 Watt PSU which may limit the kind of upgrades you introduce. Our advice is to swap it out for a higher capacity 600w or higher PSU.
The SkyTech ArchAngel GTX 1050 Ti comes with a clean install of Windows 10 Pro (64 bit) as advertised.
The SkyTech ArchAngel GTX 1050 Ti comes with nearly the same gaming peripherals as the CybertronPC Electrum QS-A6, a USB keyboard, and mouse. These two are not the most amazing pc gaming peripherals out there – the keyboard actually looks quite ordinary –but they are good enough for users who want to jump into gaming right away. The keyboard is nice. It’s a full-size qwerty keyboard with well-spaced out and punchy keys. It’s nice enough for casual gamers but hardcore gamers may want to purchase a dedicated gaming keyboard separately. The mouse is great as it has surprisingly accurate tracking and response.
Port selection on the SkyTech ArchAngel GTX 1050 Ti is decent, with the manufacturer choosing to stay in the middle of the pack on this matter. It comes with DVI port, a Display Port 1.4 and an HDMI 2.0b port and a retinue of USB ports. The inconspicuously missing VGA port does not in the least sense lower our esteem of the SkyTech ArchAngel since it’s an old port system that’s seeing its way out from the active scenes of computing. However, if you really need to use a VGA cable with your monitor, then you’ll need to purchase an HDMI to VGA converter or DP hub. Read more about the different types of ports right here. Other ports also included are seven USB 2.0 ports and two 3.0 ports an RJ-45 Network Ethernet port.
This gaming PC rocks an AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core processor with a 3.5GHz base clock speed. It can hit highs of 4.1 GHz while on Turbo. In addition to that, it comes with a GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5 Graphics Card and 8GB of RAM. Right away we can tell the SkyTech ArchAngel GTX 1050 Ti isn’t made for hard-core gamers who like to push their systems to the limit with the latest AAA titles on ultra-settings. This configuration is perfect for entry level pc gamers who don’t mind playing most games at a max 60fps. Games that can be thoroughly enjoyed on the SkyTech ArchAngel GTX 1050 Ti include lightweight titles like CS-Go, Minecraft, PlayerUnknown Battleground, Kingdom come (Deliverance) and older games from 2017 or earlier. As mentioned before, it can handle CPU intensive real-time strategy titles. I’m talking about StarCraft, Spell Force, Halo wars and Tooth and Tail. They should be able to take advantage of the AMD FX-6300 multi-core processor.
The SkyTech ArchAngel GTX 1050 Ti also handles everyday computing needs smoothly thanks to its 3.5GHz CPU.
Among the SkyTech ArchAngel GTX 1050 Ti’s key assets are its powerful processor, excellent graphics, good looks and massive expandability. Any gamer who’s got a mind for his/her money will know a great deal when they see one. And this right here is one such deal. That’s why we recommend it to any of our readers without a second thought.
