This is among the simplest yet functional designs we’ve seen on a mid-tower pc this year from HP. The HP Pavilion 510-p030’s front and side panels are finished in a unique design composed of tiny circular grooves that make it look so elegant and professional. The brushed aluminum strip running through the center of the front panel gives the HP Pavilion Desktop 510-p030 a touch of class and premium feel while giving the user easy access to some of the IO options available on this pc like the headphone/mic combo jack.

This is one sophisticated looking tower pc to say the least. HP calls it a revolutionary design-the best thing to happen to towers in over 20 years and we honestly have no reason to disagree with them on this. The desktop pc hasn’t received much love since the introduction of laptops and other portable computers but HP being a traditional desktop manufacturer kept the ball rolling integrating innovations from their newer products into the good old pc.

Disguised behind the elegant aluminum strip is a DVD burner that you can use to load DVD media to the HP Pavilion 510-p030. This is actually a great addition as most business software still come in DVDs.

The HP Pavilion 510-p030 comes with a pre-installed and licensed copy of Microsoft’s latest operating System-Windows 10. This means we get the cutting edge in terms of interfaces, software integration, tools and office applications like office 365. We also get a brand new AI assistant codenamed Cortana that really comes in handy when doing natural language voice searches. You can ask Cortana to do anything including searching and playing media on YouTube, finding and copying files, finding information on the internet etc.-all this without ever touching the pc.

Input Devices

This PC comes with a pretty decent USB keyboard and mouse. This is a stock full-size HP keyboard. The key spacing and travel is adequate and it does its job reliably as expected. I averaged 85wpm speed using it to type articles. The mouse is equally decent, it has accurate optical tracking, and feels really comfortable to hold. It’s also well-built meaning it can survive a few accidental drops or knocks.

We are happy with the port selection on the HP Pavilion Desktop 510-p030. We get a Headphone/Microphone Combo jack at the front, one USB 3.0 front, one USB 3.0 Type-C(TM). At the back we get two more USB 2.0, two USB 3.0, HDMI Out (for display output), a VGA port (for older monitors), Ethernet 10/100/1000 Base-T Network, and an HP 3-in-1 Media Card Reader that we can use to load media from portable gadgets like cameras, phones mp3 players etc.

Connectivity on the HP Pavilion 510-p030 desktop is available through the gigabit Ethernet port. Wi-Fi doesn’t come inbuilt but a cheap external USB card can be used where needed as windows 10 provides an easy wizard to install such.

As mentioned in the beginning, the HP Pavilion 510-p030 is made for the modern business environment where users have to work on several documents and applications throughout the day. This kind of workload requires a fast multiple core processor and the HP Pavilion 510-p030 has a powerful 6th Gen Intel Core i7-6700T. This is a flagship Skylake processor with clock speeds of up to 2.8GHz. It’s a quad-core processor meaning it can handle many applications without a hitch. The Intel Core i7-6700T also integrates an Intel HD Graphics 530 module for better graphics performance e.g. while playing 1080p movies and video.

The HP Pavilion 510-p030 comes with 12 GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM Memory and a 1TB HDD spinning at 7200RPM.

Performance is above average as expected. Having hundreds of tabs open on chrome does not slow this pc down at all. Normal office applications like office run smoothly even when we have several windows open while copying heavy files in the background. More demanding office packages like SAGE, Quick Books, Xerox and Caseware also run smoothly most of the time.

HP Pavilion 510-p030 Review

The HP Pavilion Desktop 510-p030 is a really nice pc for any type of office. We really don’t see any reason not to buy it unless you have very specialized needs that require the fastest pc with loads of RAM –in which case you should probably be looking its bigger brother- Pavilion 570-p030 or a more expensive gaming rig like the ASUS G11CD-DB72 Premium Gaming Desktop.
