If you’re a lover of bright colors, then the HP 15.6-Inch Flagship Laptop | Amazon looks will blow you out. The whole chassis of the machine is plastered with the attractive fiery red color except for the bottom of the machine which is black in color. You barely notice that the body is made of plastic until you handle it, owing to the solid feel that it’s color exudes.

HP 15.6-Inch Flagship Laptop

Not only does is look good, but it also feels strong. There is minimal flex as well when pressure is applied to the top of the machine, or on the palm rest. Its corners are rounded, similar to the Pavilion line of machines. While the design is pretty basic, common to most machines of the same price range, it’s color is definitely what is most eye-catching.

The HP 15.6-Inch Flagship Laptop comes with a 15.6” BrightView WLED-backlit HD display with 1366×768 Pixel. Its glossy finish makes for sharper images but also introduces glare. Thus it’s not so ideal to use in open sunlight. The display brightness is luckily bright enough to mitigate any minor reflections.

It offers good clarity and picture quality for general media consumption. It, however, may fall short of the expectations and needs of a content creator working with graphical software of who needs color accuracy and brilliance. The display is notwithstanding at par with laptops of a similar category and will meet the needs of most users.

As is customary to HP, the keyboard is quite friendly and enjoyable to use. It’s Chicklet keys offer sufficient vertical travel and are springy, requiring little force to press. They, however, are not backlit. That is expected at this price range.

There is little to say about the trackpad. It’s not as majestic as they come in premium laptops such as the HP Spectre x360 but it works just fine none the less. It only supports a handful of multi-touch gestures, but is quite accurate when clicking and scrolling both online and offline. The two buttons at its bottom require a little force to press down, though not too much to be uncomfortable or unnatural. It is slightly displaced to the left for a better user experience. However, this may take a day or so to get used to if you had a centrally placed one in your former laptop.

HP 15.6-Inch Flagship Laptop comes with a HD camera located at the top bezel. Picture and sound quality are decent and is quite ideal for skyping and social media use.

DVD drive

Being a desktop replacement laptop, it is expected that the HP 15.6-Inch Flagship Laptop comes with a DVD drive. And that is indeed the case. It comes with a Super Multi DVD burner. Okay, what does this mean for you?

Basically, it means that you can use it to read/write/rewrite DVD±R/±RW, DVD-RAM, CD-R/RW, and use Dual layer DVD’s. And that is a good thing.

The port selection of the HP 15.6-Inch Flagship Laptop is quite decent for its price. Of course, you don’t expect the Thunderbolt 3 port here, which would be nice to have but you can do without it. It comes with two (2 )USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, a HDMI port, an RJ-45 Ethernet port and a headphone/microphone combo jack.

The USB 3.0 ports offer better speed (640MBps) than the USB 2.0 port, reaching up to ten times faster than the USB 2.0. The USN 3.0 ports are marked with a blue interior slit that’s easy to identify.

In addition to that, it also comes with a Multi-format digital media card reader. Of course makes data transfer easier from other devices such as cameras, and can also come in handy when you need secondary storage space once you fill up the 500GB.

The Intel Pentium Quad-Core N3540 is an efficient processor used majorly for entry-level notebooks. It is clocked at 2.16 GHz base clock with Max Burst Clock Speed of 2.66GHz. It’s part of the Bay Trail-M platform with better performance and efficiency compared to previous Intel Atom CPUs.HP 15.6-Inch Flagship Laptop

When it comes to performance in everyday tasks such as net browsing or word processing, it is quite alright and will serve you well. However, it is not suited for complex software of modern games. Older games will run comfortably on it.

RAM and Internal Storage

The HP 15.6-Inch Flagship Laptop comes with 4GB DDR3 SDRAM. There are two slots for RAM on the motherboard, which means that you can upgrade the RAM if you need to. The 4 GM Ram is sufficient for most users, but an upgrade may be necessary for heavier use.

With a 500 GB Hard Disk Drive, internal storage is quite sufficient for most users. An upgrade to a higher capacity is further possible if the need is possible.

A brief analysis of the HP 15.6-Inch Flagship Laptop brings to light its strengths and also its inherent weaknesses. Among its strengths include beauty, a good display, and a fair port selection. It is important to note that while it does not have a major overarching weakness, it would have definitely done better with a stronger processor. With such sentiments in mind, we can conclude that the HP 15.6-Inch Flagship Laptop is a decent machine that can meet the needs of most users with average needs. It definitely is a good machine for students and other medium demand users.
