If you are shopping for a gaming PC today, you have to choose between these three paths; the first option is to buy individual components and build one yourself, the second option is to hire an expert to build it for you and lastly to buy a prebuilt gaming rig from a company like CybertronPC. The first two options carry some amount of risk as basically anything can go wrong; like components getting fried during construction or some components bottlenecking your PC’s overall performance due to incompatibility (this of course depends on the skill of the person building the PC).
The third option is, in our humble opinion the safest and quickest route to joining the wonderful world of PC gaming. You get a handsome warranty from the company who build the PC and don’t have to worry about building and the risk that comes with it. Crypto mining has especially affected the prices of video cards lately so building a PC from scratch might end up costing you a bit more than you expected.
Today we take a look at the AMD powered CybertronPC Electrum QS-A6 Gaming Desktop. AMD components are particularly popular with miners so it’s interesting that CybertronPC manages to package this mid-tier gaming PC for a competitive $800 price tag. Design and Features
As with most CybertronPC gaming rigs, the CybertronPC Electrum QS-A6 is housed in an elegant metallic case with a meshed sunken center compartment. The whole front panel is backlit with bright customizable LED lighting. The overall design looks clean and simple, but maintains the general eye-catching gamer aesthetic. Transparent side windows give you a glimpse of the clinically assembled interior of the CybertronPC Electrum QS-A6. Cable management on this PC is professionally done giving way for easy access of components especially when expanding.
The CybertronPC Electrum mid-tower case QS-A6 measures just 14.65 x 8.23 x 16.5 in and weighs about 18.8 pounds. It doesn’t occupy a large area of your desk nor is it too heavy to transfer from room to room or even to a friend’s place for a LAN party. The base actually leaves the whole bottom side of the CybertronPC Electrum QS-A6 hollow therefore minimizing the amount of heat dissipated to the desk and easing air flow. Upgrade options are available on the motherboard including space for extra storage, a free DIMM slot for an extra RAM stick, a PCIe x16 slot and PCIe x1 slots. The 400Watt power supply will however limit how far you can go with the upgrades.
As mentioned before, the CybertronPC Electrum QS-A6 comes with a clean install of windows 10 Home (64 bit). As advertised, there’s is zero bloatware on this machine.
The CybertronPC Electrum QS-A6 comes with two free gaming peripherals; a USB keyboard and mouse. They are not the most amazing PC gaming peripherals out there-the keyboard actually looks quite ordinary –but they are good enough for users who want to jump into gaming right away. The keyboard is nice. It’s a full size qwerty keyboard with well-spaced out and punchy keys. It’s nice enough for casual gamers but hardcore gamers may want to purchase a dedicated gaming keyboard separately. The mouse is great as it has surprisingly accurate tracking and response times.
The back of the CybertronPC Electrum QS-A6 gaming PC is a rich source of connectivity. There is a myriad connections ports and connectors for just about any device you can find. We have one PS/2 connector, two USB 3.0 ports, 6 USB 2.0 ports, an RJ-45 network Ethernet 10/100/1000 | interface and 7.1. channel Audio ports. For display output you can either use VGA if you have older monitors or the DVI port for HD output.
Wireless connectivity isn’t available inbuilt on the CybertronPC Electrum QS-A6 gaming PC. It has gigabit Ethernet connectivity as standard but users who don’t have a physical Ethernet link to their PC can always buy an external USB Wi-Fi adaptor for their CybertronPC Electrum QS-A6 gaming PC.
We normally take all the gaming systems we review through a number of real world tests where we play most mainstream gaming titles. This is to find out how the machine we are reviewing stacks up as a gaming machine and a general purpose high-powered windows desktop.
The CybertronPC Electrum QS-A6 gaming PC is powered by a powerful AMD A6-7400K 3.50GHz Dual-Core processor and has AMD Radeon R5 integrated graphics. This means that it should be able to handle light gaming titles like CS-Go and heavy multitasking workloads smoothly.
The powerful processor also means that CPU intensive RTS titles like StarCraft can be enjoyed at very high refresh rates. Indeed, our practical gaming tests and synthetic benchmarks proved that this PC has what it takes to plough through the demands of these games comfortably. The Radeon isn’t the fastest GPU’s today, but its good enough for gamers who like playing light titles like CS-G0 and League of Legends
The CybertronPC Electrum QS-A6 also stacks up well as an everyday high-performance PC capable of handling heavy applications like Adobe cc, blender, Maya and AutoCAD. This performance can be attributed to its powerful CPU and 16 Gigs of DDR3 physical memory.
If you want to spend $800 on a gaming PC but don’t want to sacrifice performance, general physical aesthetics and build quality, the CybertronPC Electrum QS-A6 can be a good choice. It looks good, has solid performance and offers enough upgrade options allowing you to install more powerful components making it future proof. Port selection is also good.
