DESIGN AND FEATURES

The BattleBox Ultimate SLC9920 Gaming PC comes with gamer-grade aesthetic, mid-tower style casing artfully constructed to infatuate gamers with a unique design and a tasty red-on-black color scheme. Overall, the design is quite simple but catchy nonetheless. https://mogz.tech/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/CYBERPOWERPC-BattleBox-Ultimate-SLC9920-Gaming-PC-Review2.jpg

First, the translucent front panel looks futuristic and is flanked on either side by vertical vents trimmed in red metal mesh. You also get an LED bar underneath the front panel which adds extra illumination just to spruce things up.

Gaming machines appear more alluring when you are able to see its internals amid beams of colored light – a debatable point, but not lost on CyberpowerPC regardless. The tempered glass allows easy visual access to the heart of this gaming rig. Notably present is the motherboard among other features, illumined red from the LED lights located at the top exhaust vent.  Exploring further, one is beaconed to behold the sturdy looking, smartly fitted liquid cooling system.

Overall, the build quality is decent throughout with the sharp angles and magnetic red LED highlights, giving the body a beastly feel (*if there is such a word).

Input devices

What’s more? The machine comes with a multimedia RGB 7 Color keyboard alongside a descent gaming mouse so that you can start enjoying your PC right away. Well, while it’s true that some reviews claim the keyboard is a let-down, we felt that’s a small issue that can be solved by buying a new set.

AS for Optical drive, this baby doesn’t come with one. That’s quite unfortunate if one is already used to loading software and DVD moves the old-school way. However, with a little skill around the net, one can get the same digital content online or simply acquire an external optical drive altogether.

Portability

On the top panel, there is a carrying handle which we think is very useful- especially if you prefer moving your PC around.

In any case, with 8.7 x 21.3 x 20.3 inches dimensions and 32 pounds weight isn’t a much of a digression from what you’d expect for a mid-tower frame. Thankfully, the carry handle should suffice anytime one has needs to dash to a LAN party date with friends.

CONNECTIVITY

The I/O system is quite simple but still sufficient. The top panel has two USB 3.0 ports and standard headphone/microphone jacks. (In addition to the hard drive activity LED (red), the reset button, and a fan speed control switch)

The rear has a well thought out design with some extra four USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 interfaces, one RJ-45 Ethernet port and one high definition audio 7.1 channel. If you prefer extra display options, then you’re in luck. The port system includes a HDMI port, one DVI port and 1 Display Port to choose from.

The lack of a USB type C port is a slight blot on an otherwise impressive design of connectivity architecture.

PERFORMANCE

The CyberpowerPC BattleBox Ultimate SLC9920 Gaming PC is a pure monster. Overall, thanks to the unlocked Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake Quad-Core 4.2GHz processor (with up to 4.5 GHz turbo boost) this baby has enough to handle the most demanding of tasks, be it gaming or video editing.

The Intel Core i7-7700U processor is quite something. It offers 4 physical cores (8 logical) with an initial bse clock speed of 4.2 GHz. Further, it has 8 MB of L3 cache and best of all, it has an unlocked multiplier. That is sufficient muscle to handle the most demanding modern games at high/ultra graphics performance. It ably powers VR headsets like the distinct Oculus Rift and HTC Vive so that you can effortless enjoy Virtual reality in the comfort of your room.

What about professionals? Well, it caters for them too. It can handle multitasking, digital media creation and manipulation software, CAD and 3D modeling software  without breaking a sweat.

Its chief partner in crime is the NVidiaGTX 1080 Ti graphics card, a flagship gaming GPU which comes packed with Next-gen 11 GBPS GDDR5X memory and extreme graphical horsepower. The GTX 1080 Ti being among the best in its space, tore right through AAA gaming titles. On our gaming tests, it yielded some impressive records as is recorder below.

The Witcher 340-45fps on 4k
League of legends
40-45fps on 4k
Rise of the Tomb Raider45-50 fps on 4k
Battlefield 160fps on 4k
Watchdogs 260fps on 4k
Assassin’s Creed Unity50-55 fps on 4k

It offers similar performance to the CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Panzer PVP3020LQ desktop that we recently reviewed. So if you prefer a blue and white theme as opposed to a black and red one, you might want to check it out.  Moving on, the system comes with an impressive 16 GB DDR4 RAM to keep things ticking. Additionally, it houses a massive 2TB SATA hard drive plus 240GB of solid state memory.  The two combined translate to high volume and extreme speed.

You don’t want heat messing up with your sessions. CyperpowerPC made sure this never happens by installing a liquid cooling system in addition to 4 cooling fans – optimized to run silently behind the scene.

Advanced features require more power. The 800watts PSU fitted inside the chassis packs enough wattage to power everything without as much as a strain.

In Conclusion of the BattleBox 2017 Ultimate Review…

The Cyberpower PC BattleBox Ultimate SLC9920 Gaming PC is a compelling fusion of graphical and processing power for a reasonable price. With impressive performances in 4K and VR gaming, any gamer should find it as a compelling rig worth owning.

In addition to that, its powerful hardware and a future proof build makes a perfect choice for anyone who needs needs to stay on top of the game for years to come without feeling the need to upgrade to another machine.

Yes, it does have its weaknesses, one being that it lacks an optical drive. However, this does not necessarily have to be a con in that most software, drivers and general digital content is available via the Internet, plus it’s not too expensive to acquire an external optical drive when need arises.

So who does this machine fit? Any power user out there – be it a gamer, video editor, engineer to mention but a few. So shoudl you get it? Why yes, if it has impressed you as it did us, why the hell not!
