- The AOC Q2778VQE See at Amazon is a 27 inch monitor with unique prospects for gamers alike. Although it doesn’t have a particularly premium build, it boasts of a WQHD (2560 x 1440) TN LED panel display which is by all standards impressive; delivering sharp images down to the finest detail. Other great features for gamers is the 1ms response time and 16.7 million colors for your display screen.
DESIGN AND FEATURES
The AOC Q2778VQE comes in a glossy black design and thick bezel to hold the screen in place. The build is nothing fancy but it impresses vastly to those looking to keep within budget standards. The screen might be initially hard to love judging from first impressions, but on the bright side it doesn’t wobble and the great resolution discredits that lack.
The stand takes out a few points off the AOC Q2778VQE for lacking an adjustable system for height. It’s a little stiff and doesn’t allow correcting the screen angle which is wanting to say the least.
The AOC monitor panel comes with a TN (Twisted Nematics) which for most times has its downsides. However, it is ideal for this gaming monitor since the technology is widely available in the market and that means most affordable; a reason for the AOC Q2778VQE Monitor’s great starting price.
TN panels are generally known for their fast pixel response times and refresh rates. Their Achilles ’ heel however is that they are prone to color shifting and have poor viewing angles to be precise 170 degrees horizontal and 160 degrees vertical for this monitor. Fortunately, the vertical angles for this monitor are wide and sufficient which gives you the freedom to move your head without worrying about the screen being rendered unreadable.
Some budget monitors might suffer from blurring and ghosting of images especially if the images are fast moving. Fortunately, the AOC Q2778VQE had none of those issues. The problem came later on when we checked on input lag time which was at 37ms.
On a broader scale, that is a little higher than expected especially if you’re planning on playing fast reaction time games. It comes with 60Hz refresh rate which isn’t as impressive as the gaming monitors. If you’re looking for a monitor that just gets you by, then this should be a great fit.
On measurements grounds, it sits at 25.2 x 11.8 x 18.5 inches and weighs 14.9 pounds which isn’t so bad either for a monitor that will be sitting on your desk daily. It compares to the ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q Check at Amazon(14.3 x 9.4 x 24.4 inches, 15.4 pounds) in measurement and weight. But the Asus costs more thanks to the aspects ratios (1.78:1) and built NVIDIA G-SYNC Technology to minimize display stutters and input lag.
If you’re a looking to connect to a computer, the most important ports usually are the DVI-D, HDMI and DisplayPort connectors which the AOC Q2778VQE Monitor fortunately comes with. Each of these connectors has its pros and cons but they all are a great selection of ports to come by.
For gaming purposes, monitors should be fitted with a variety of video inputs to allow you to stay connected to multiple PCs and gaming consoles for instance Sony PS4 Pro and Microsoft Xbox One S. Multiple HDMI ports are advisable sine major gaming consoles use HDMI especially HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.2.
These two ports are also a requirement if you’re planning on playing with monitors with Nvidia G-sync and FreeSync which the AOC Q2778VQE Monitor lacks. The Samsung LC27F591FDN Monitor comes fitted with FreeSync technology and costs very well in comparison to AOC Q2778VQE. AOC also comes with a Power Schuko C7 Cable to power its low power system ( 45W).
The AOC lacks most picture presets that other gaming monitors have such as Luminance settings, shadow control, Gamma and overdrive control. But it does come with a few selection of adjustments. These include contrast, brightness controls and power-saving mode. You can also further adjust color saturation through the User mode.
We tried the AOC Q2778VQE monitor through .our gaming test to weigh out its performance. It hardly sailed through call of Duty Infinite Warfare (Sony PlayStation 4); there were stutters and blurring and under high resolution we experienced ghosting. Screen tearing was there but minimal. As a result we don’t recommend this monitor for intense gaming.

For any avid gamer, a serious gaming monitor is one that’s in tune with its CPU. I mean a monitor that keeps up with your GPU without degrading picture quality. Well, I was a little disappointed with the AOC Q2778VQE for lacking an in-built dedicated graphic card for high resolution gaming. Fortunately, AOC has a tweaked model that comes with Nvidia G-sync; the AOC Agon AG271QG See at Amazon that made it to our Editors pick for best gaming monitors.
The AOC Q2778VQE Monitor See at Amazon is a good choice as an entry level monitor for users of all stripes. It comes armed with speedy refresh rates, decent pixel response rates and a sharp WQHD panel. It serves best as an entry level gaming monitor but for all those with already monstrous desktops at your disposal, this might not be completely ideal for you; especially if your desktop has a dedicated graphics processor.
The ViewSonic XG2700-4K See at Amazon still stands as our Editor’s choice of budget gaming monitors but if you really can accept the practical limitations of the AOC, it can be a friendly machine to work with. Additionally, there are other monitors, within the $300 margin, that offer almost similar performance.
The ASUS PB277Q Monitor See at Amazon is one such monitor to consider.
