This PC’s casing is an elegant piece of hardware. With a smooth and shiny metallic case, the Acer TC-780-UR11 desktop computer certainly looks like a premium PC and would complement your workspace. This is a mid-tower form factor desktop PC measuring just 15.67 x 6.89 x 17.43 inches, it doesn’t take up too much desk space leaving us enough room to keep other accessories while achieving a clean and minimalistic desk setup. The audio jack is located at the front of the tower together with two USB ports which are really nice since it makes it easy to connect simple peripherals like flash drives or charging other devices.

Input Devices

Included in the bundle is a nice full qwerty USB keyboard and mouse. The keys are adequately spaced out and offer a decent amount of key travel while maintaining a soft touch characteristic. We were able to easily achieve speeds of up to 105 WPM with minimum errors and mistyping. Overall this is a nicely designed keyboard that serves its purpose without a hitch.

The USB mouse has a premium feel. It doesn’t feel too heavy or too light and has pretty decent response times. There is no noticeable pointer skipping or delays while using it. It’s housed in a solid plastic casing and looks strong enough to withstand the test of time and occasional dropping. Overall we like the input devices that come with the Acer Aspire TC-780-UR11 desktop PC.

The Acer TC-780-UR11 desktop comes with an impressive port compliment for a budget PC. These include two easy to access USB 3.0 ports, headphone/mic jack and an SD slot card located on the front panel just below the DVD drive. At the back, you will find an HDMI and VGA port for display output as well as an Ethernet port, one more USB 3.0 port and an audio in and out port. The ports at the back can be a bit hard to reach especially if you do not have a front-facing desk but it’s nice to have them there for easy cable management. All the ports connect to the Acer Aspire TC-780-UR11 motherboard, an Intel H110 chipset.

One would expect a desktop PC like the Acer Aspire TC-780-UR11 to lack Wi-Fi connectivity as most desktops, including some high-end models, tend to come without inbuilt Wi-Fi – but this PC does come with Wi-Fi connectivity. It sports inbuilt an Intel dual-band wireless-AC 3165 NIC that supports IEEE 802.11 ac and is also backward compatible. The Acer Aspire TC-780-UR11 also features Bluetooth 4.0 LE.

As with its bigger sibling the Acer Aspire TC-780-UR12, this PC is powered by a 7th Generation KabyLake CPU. This one is an Intel Core i7-7700 with a base clock speed of 3.6 GHz and 4.2 GHz while on turbo boost. This CPU is one of the most popular chips currently. Based on Intel’s new KabyLake architecture, this chip features better performance with low power usage. Also, class-leading hardware for encoding and decoding of 4K and HDR content like Netflix 4K video. In addition, it is has a clear edge against its competitors like the Ryzen 7 on single threaded workloads. The Acer Aspire TC-780-UR11 comes with 8MB of DDR4 UDIMM Memory with speeds of up to 2400Mhz. There is an empty slot for future upgrades that can accommodate a 16GB memory stick.

Storage is ample in the Acer Aspire TC-780-UR11. You get a whopping 1TB HDD spinning at 7200rpm right off the box. There is an empty SATA port and M.2 slot in case you want to install additional storage in the future.

All these components make the Acer Aspire TC-780-UR11 an extremely capable PC that can handle heavy workloads in a multi-tasking environment. Running several office and productivity software simultaneously does not bring this PC to its knees. You can have several tabs open in your browser while streaming YouTube or Netflix and running file operations and Antivirus scans in the background. Photo editing and browsing on the Acer Aspire TC-780-UR11 is an effortless affair.

We had our unit hooked to a curved Sceptre C328B-144KN Monitor | Amazon and the viewing experience was quite nice, to say the least. Graphics processing was top notch thanks to the inbuilt Intel HD Graphics 630 unit. We even managed to enjoy playing Minecraft and a few other light games at decent frame rates. This PC comes with a 300 w power supply which is ample for its intended purpose but this means you cannot install more demanding dedicated graphics cards to improve gaming without having to upgrade the PSU (and also cooling! Very important if you go that direction).

If you are in the market for an affordable yet capable desktop PC, the Acer Aspire TC-780-UR11 is a nice candidate. It has a powerful CPU, ample storage, a wide array of ports and nice peripherals to adequately address the needs of a small office setup. This unit comes with 8GB RAM which is sufficient for most workloads. We did a review of its bigger brother the Acer Aspire TC-780-UR12 | Amazon which comes with higher specs including 16GB of RAM. It compares well with the HP Pavilion 510 and the ASUS K31CD, though we think the Acer Aspire TC-780-UR11 is better looking.

Fun Fact: Did you know that the word Acer comes from the Latin word meaning ‘sharp’?
