Design and Features: Solid

The Acer Aspire E15 E5-576-392H comes with a simple design; black plastic exterior with hints of metallic silver. That’s especially on the Acer logos on the chassis and inner bezel. The overall faux-brushed-like design is decent and avoids the common pitfalls that traditional of most traditional laptops. The laptop manages to keep slim, casual and sturdy without looking crammed with hardware parts. Overall, the design brings forth a strong build quality vibe. That’s owing to a zero-flex, creak or buckle body.

A stunning front view of the Acer Aspire E15 E5-576-392H

At 5.27 pounds/2.39 kgs and measuring 15x10x1.2 inches, the Acer Aspire E15 E5-576-392H is a constant reminder of the Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575-33BM. Also, it gives the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 2-in-1 series (4.6 pounds, 0.8 inches) and the Acer Swift 3 (4.4 pounds, 0.7 inches) a run for their money. However, unlike the Acer Swift and Dell Inspiron 15 5000, the Acer Aspire E15 E5-576-392H isn’t touch sensitive or convertible. Further, the Acer Aspire E15 E5-576G-5762 is another Amazon favorite with almost similar specs but with better performance and slightly higher price tag (almost $200 more).

With a 15-inch display screen and slightly thick bezel, the Acer Aspire E15 E5-576-392H is a laptop to fancy in its budget category. It comes with a 1920×1080 (Full HD) display that’s sure to bring the crystal to your viewing experience. While the display is a little dim, the images are sharp and vibrant. Viewing angles aren’t the best either. Viewing loses it’s sharpness when getting closer to 45% from either right or left.

As the price suggests, the Acer Aspire E15 E5-576-392H wasn’t built to dazzle. It comes with 200 nits Full HD display which is more or less a bit dim. You might struggle using it in bright sunlight especially if you’re one to go outdoors often. The display also has a 74% sRGB spectrum which is a bit mediocre considering the industry average is 89% sRGB (Acer Swift 3).

Admittedly, the Flex 5 1570 (133%) offers more color on its display. Even so, the Acer Aspire E15 E5-576-392H has a budget price which makes a decent choice for budget users.

The side view of the Acer Aspire E15 E5-576-392H reveals the DVR writer in its glory.

The Acer Aspire E15 E5-576-392H comes with a USB Type-C port. We were glad to notice this little but forward-looking addition; a statement towards embracing technology. Additionally, on the left side, there are two USB 3.0 port, VGA port, HDMI port, full-size Ethernet jack, Security lock slot and the mention USB Type-C 3.1 port. The thick frame creates plenty of space to house ports leaving plenty of it for a DVD write tray.

One of the main reasons the Acer Aspire E15 E5-576-392H is an instant catch with retailers is the under the hood specs; including the processor. While budget, the Acer makes its entry into the scene with a top of the line forward-looking features. You get the 8th Generation Intel Dual Core i3-8130U processor with 2.2GHz processing power.

On turbo, the processor can hit highs of 3.4GHz. The processor is a mid-tier model with low power consumption for handling light real-life use. That includes day-to-day computing tasks like web-browsing, MS.Office, working on productivity software and media playback (movies/music). The processor works excellently coupled with an integrated graphics (Intel HD Graphics 620) card to play light games. You can game on a title such as League of Legends, Minecraft.

Ram Upgrade and SSD storage

Secondly, there’s a 6GB RAM and 1TB HDD storage. As a result, it cold boots in about 15 seconds and handles everything you throw at it with flair. Head-to-head with other premium laptops, the Acer Aspire E15 E5-576-392H doesn’t stand a chance. But it holds down beautifully when toe-to-toe with its peers. Still, you’re not completely out of options. You can upgrade the hard drive storage with solid state drive (SSD) to increase your speed and boot times. In the same breath, a RAM upgrade could do you a solid in performance especially in multitasking tasks and gaming.

The processor isn’t designed to handle editing or AAA gaming titles. On that front, you would have to get a Core i5-8150U processor for that. We fired up a couple of games to put it on the paces. The Acer Aspire E15 E5-576-392H did manage to play a few but of course, steer away from max settings.

A good audio system usually makes a laptop become a cut above the rest. Great sounding audio is what thrills music enthusiasts. The Acer Aspire E15 E5-576-392H managed to add a decent set of True Harmony speakers. The speakers provide ample sound to fill a room with accurate reproduction. There’s a clear rumble of bass in the emitted sound and the highs are clear and crispy too. On the flip side, you don’t get much in the direction of audio adjustments.

Keyboard and Touchpad: Simple but accurate

Like the design of the Acer Aspire E15 E5-576-392H, the keyboard and trackpad show their versatility in their structure. While typing, they showed no sign of flex which is a great aspect not common for laptops in this budget range. The keyboard offers full 1.5mm vertical travel and needs 64 grams of force to actuate. That means the keyboard is comfortable to type on and you don’t have to type hard to see results on the screen. Additionally, the right section of the keyboard has a number pad, which makes doing calculations less traumatic.

Heat: Cool

Normally, for budget laptops with mid-tier processors, there’s hardly any trouble when it comes to cooling. The processors are usually low heat emitters so the laptop doesn’t get exposed to heat. The lack of a discrete graphics card is another factor why heat isn’t produced in bucket loads. For the Acer Aspire E15 E5-576-392H, it was rather cool throughout its use. It managed a cool 78 degrees Fahrenheit on the touchpad and highs of 85.5 degrees on the bottom. All the temperatures were well below the average comfort threshold of 95 degrees.

Upgrading? Astounding Yes.

While most of America shuns away from upgrading laptops, a large number of users are doing it. The wealth of knowledge on laptops and parts is growing immensely fast. As a matter of fact, Acer actually cites the easy-to-remove upgrade panel at the bottom. This is in a bid to cater for users looking to make the upgrades on their own. This one it’s own is a move most manufacturers haven’t widely done but it’s slowly catching on. For the Acer Aspire E15 E5-576-392H, you can make some minor but vital upgrades to boost your performance. The top of your list is the RAM and storage.

You can opt to tweak your RAM from 6GB to 8GB or up to 32GB DDR4. The system comes with two slots for memory with only a single one filled. On the storage side, 1TB is plenty but you can swap out the hard drive for another 2.5 inch SATA SSD. Either a 250 SSD or 240SSD should be fine. That should cost you between $90 and $100.

Conclusion: Great bang for the buck!

First off, the Acer Aspire E15 E5-576-392H comes with a budget price, decent trackpad and keyboard, and a rich set of features. The large 15.6 inches of screen estate its great for run-to-the-mill home & office tasks and multimedia. On that note, the Full HD definitely makes it worth your while. That coupled with plenty of storage (1TB HDD) and long-lasting battery make for a pretty sweet deal. USB Type-C, HDMI makes for connectivity a cinch. So you won’t struggle to have other devices connected.

If the dim-lit display (200watts) and a chunk of bloatware don’t weigh you down, this is a laptop worth having. It’s an affordable option for the dorm room student and users looking for the best budget 15-inch laptop available right now.

Also, the Acer Aspire E15 E5-576G-5762 is another Amazon favorite with almost similar specs, but with better performance and slightly higher price tag (almost $200 more).
